Simple Ideas for Change

You know children are the most approachable to the HTS message and how they are exceptionally attentive to making sure parents and adults “obey & honor”. But adults need to be equally receptive and mentor their children too. It’s a partnership that works.

Here are some things for Kids to do and think about for road way use and safety. It’s a simple list of ideas and behaviors to make a regular part of your life and the lives of your friends and loved ones.

Now, here is a fun way to learn the following behaviors to share by remembering, “ROACH PAW”. We’re not sure if roaches have paws, but you get the idea.

Respect

If you respect yourself then, you’ll do the same for others no matter how they appear or what they like to do. Always answer and behave respectfully and you’ll be way ahead in life.

Obey

Obeying road way laws is simple. You just make a pledge to do so and that’s it. There’s no gray area or ways around it. And it makes life so much better and more relaxed too. If you’re in a hurry don’t walk across the middle of a street or ride a bike against traffic or ignore a Stop Sign. Slow down, take a breath and walk to the cross-walk and make a stop at the sign. You’ll get where you’re going just fine.

Actually, you can see how fast driving or riding often gets a person to a place no faster. Try paying attention to how others in such a hurry end up at the same red light or stop sign as you. Obey the road way laws and you’ll be a lot safer.

Acknowledge

Part of being a road way user (walking, running, biking, driving) is the acknowledgement of others rights. Each and every person (and there are a lot using roads) is no more or less important than another. They have a right to use the road way just like you.

If you acknowledge their rights your rights are enhanced and so is your life.

Courtesy

Imagine if you knew the personal circumstances of every person in each automobile you passed. Are they young, old, able bodied and where are they going? Are they on the way to work, home to see their children, with their children, traveling with a pet or even on their way to see a loved one in the hospital?

The point is everyone is a human being and not just a vehicle, but a living person with families, love ones, pets and feelings just like you.

Make allowances for other by being courteous and thinking about how much you don’t know about them. You’ll be a better road way user and much happier, safer and sensitive to others too.

Honor

Honor is a means of adoration and commemoration towards others. With Honor The Stop our core message is to honor those who have lost their lives or have become seriously injured as a result of a road way accident.

Take a moment to remember others less fortunate. Maybe, someone you know and honor them by treating all road way users as you would like to be regarded.

 Pledge

Take the the pledge to obey all road way laws and honor others. And share this message with your friends.

Advocate

If you support HTS you’re in a great place to champion the message. Make a point of pledging one person and the world will be a little safer place.

Wear

Wear the band or place it in a conspicuous place where it can remind you by its symbolism to “obey & honor”.
